Fraser Set For German ChallengeThe British swimmers selected for the British Paralympic squad, which includes Warrender's Sean Fraser, will be looking to test themselves against some of the best swimmers in Europe at this weekend's German Open Championships. The 36-strong-squad features a mix of youth and experience as all athletes will be looking to gain valuable race experience in their preparations for the biggest sporting event in the world this summer.
Paralympic champions Sascha Kindred, Natalie Jones and Dave Roberts return to competition after a successful World Cup in Manchester hungry to get more international success under their belts. For some athletes, including Warrender's Sean Fraser, this will be their first taste of international competition as they look to prepare themselves for the challenge of the Paralympic Games.
British Head Coach Lars Humer sees this competition as an important test for many of the athletes. "The team are utilising the German Open to rehearse Paralympic team protocols," Humer said. "The athletes will be working with staff that are likely to be at the Paralympics and we are seeing how they interact with each other in a competition environment and we are analysing the best way for our athletes to prepare for races. We are in the middle of the build up to the Paralympic Games and at this stage we will be more interested to see how the athletes perform overall instead of results, although I am expecting the athletes to be in the battle for medals at this competition."
