10 Apr 2008

Warrender swimmers got off to a strong start as the Scottish National Age Group Championships got underway in Glasgow Thursday.  After the first day of action, the Edinburgh based club had built up a 74 point lead in the Top Club standings ahead of Portsmouth Northsea and City of Glasgow.

Impressive gold medal swims from Craig Benson (Boys 13 yrs 100 free) and Jennifer Dobson (Girls 14 yrs 200 IM) led the way and were supported by several other podium finishes from Craig, Jennifer, Sally Wood, Rosie Hood, Helen McRoberts and newcomers Oliver and Charles Bitowt.  In addition, both Boys relay teams finished on the medal dias for the 4x200 freestyle event (11-14 yrs and 15-18 yrs) giving them both a good chance of qualification later in the year for the British Championships.

The meet continues at the Tollcross pool through Sunday.
