Smith looks to 2012 after 4th place finishOlympic Trials - Day 5 Finals & Heats
Warrender's Lewis Smith quickly resolved to work harder and do more training than ever before after a 4th place finish in the Men's 400m I.M. final saw him miss qualification for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. His time of 4:22.90 was disappointing but he has already reset his goals towards London 2012, and the Commonwealth Games in India in 2010. Billy Purnell placed third in the 'B' final in 4:31.79 for 11th position overall.
The 'B' final of the Women's 100m Butterfly saw Fiona Booth race to 6th place and 14th overall in a time of 1:02.21, just shy of her best set last night. In disability action, Sean Fraser established a personal best in the heats of the Men's 100m Butterfly of 1:07.23 which he later followed up with 1:07.41 in the final for 5th place.
The evening heats were very promising for the club with three personal best times from three swims. Rosie Hood continued her progression up the backstroke rankings with a time of 2:18.89, good enough to progress to the 'B' final. Ewan Johnston demonstrated improved speed with an impressive time of 52.54 in the Men's 100m Freestyle, while Ross Woolley knocked a massive twenty seconds off his previous best in the Men's 1500m Freestyle following an extremely well paced swim of 16:31.16.
