Warrender swimmers ready to roll at Olympic Trials
29 Mar 2008

Twelve of Warrender's leading swimmers will be in Sheffield this coming week to take part in the 2008 Great Britain Olympic Swimming Trials.  This is the highest number of swimmers the club has ever sent to a meet of this nature, and is also more than any other Scottish club.

Leading the way will be Lewis Smith, who will contest the Men's 400m IM as a genuine contender for a place on the plane to Beijing later this summer.  Currently ranked third in the country, the British international needs to finish in the top two positions in the final and also swim inside a time of 4:18.40 in the heats.  His best currently stands at 4:19.24 but he will face tough opposition from 3-4 other swimmers who all have the same goal.

Billy Purnell, Kyle Goodfellow and Fiona Booth will be attempting to set the cat amongst the pigeons by making senior finals, while Ewan Johnston is a serious candidate for a place on the 2008 European Junior Team in several events.

Sean Fraser goes into the meet targeting a place at the Paralympics and although that will clearly be very tough, he has been working very hard in training and is on a the up right now.

The full team list and events being contested are as follows:
