Warrender Swimmers Shine at Scottish Schools Championships!There were some very impressive swims from our large contingent of Warrender swimmers at the recent Scottish Schools Swimming Championships in Tollcross, Glasgow.
Stand out performances came from Ross Woolley in the Boys 15/16 200IM, which he won in an excellent time of 2:15.25, obtaining his qualifying time for the upcoming Olympic Trials along the way. In the same race, Ryan Archibald placed 3rd in 2:19.94 giving him his first ever ASA Youth Qualifying time. Ross backed up this fine performance by the winning the 100 Backstroke in a time of 1:02.28.
Craig McNally similarly gained a qualifying time for the Olympic Trials when he won a closely contested race against Warrender team mate Mark Steeples in the Boys 15/16 200 Backstroke. Craig’s winning time was 2:16.94, with Mark finishing in 3rd in 2:18.71. Craig finished 2nd behind Ross Woolley in the 100 Backstroke, whilst Mark was able to turn his 3rd place in to Gold when he went on to win the 200 Butterfly in 2:23.46. Murray Lawrence finished third in this same race in 2:25.81.
Craig Benson carried his good form forward from the National Short Course Championships the week before, winning both the Boys 13/14 100 and 200 Breaststroke events. Craig won in fine fashion, breaking both Scottish Schools Records, the 100 having been held since 1994. Craig’s winning times were 1:11.36 and 2:35.70.
