Smith wins Bronze in EindhovenRepresenting Great Britain at the Dutch Swimming Cup in Eindhoven, Warrender's Lewis Smith won the bronze medal in the final event of the meet Sunday, posting a time of 4:24.63 in the 400 I.M. Smith was part of a 19 strong British contingent who were using this fast long course meet as preparation for next week's European Short Course Championships in Hungary.
Smith swam a controlled butterfly on the opening 100 metres before moving through the field during the middle backstroke and breaststroke sections. The race was won by Canada's Keith Beavers with Portugal's Carlos Almeida just edging Lewis for the silver after the final 100 metres of freestyle.
Earlier in the week, Smith had also competed well in the 200 Freestyle (1:54.51), 400 Freestyle (3:59.46), 200 I.M. (2:06.34), 200 Butterfly (2:03.08) and 50 Butterfly (26.43).
