Warrender swimmers lead East District team to best ever finish at National County Championships
28 Oct 2007

The 24 strong East District team successfully equalled their best ever performance at this years ASA National County Championships in Sheffield last weekend.  The team included no less than 11 Warrender swimmers, with at least one WBC swimmer represented in each age group, both male and female.  Although the team was perhaps not quite at its strongest with call offs from several of the District's top swimmers, those who filled their places showed a fighting spirit and gritty determination in order to produce a top result.  Warrender's very own Craig Benson got things off to a flying start in the 12/13 Boys 100m Breaststroke, swimming a personal best time of 1:10.70 and finishing first, ensuring maximum points for the team.  Yasmin Khera and Ewan Johnston also raced to career best times to finish in a high point scoring position.  Our relay teams proved to be our strongest aspect, with the last three relays of the day securing the points needed to lift us into 4th position.  There was a great team atmosphere on poolside (Jennifer Dobson performing the best rendition of Y.M.C.A), held together by the team captains, Ewan Johnston and Rosie Hood. Well done to all involved.

Warrender swimmers representing the East District were as follows: Sean Campsie, Craig Benson, Yasmin Khera, Craig McNally, Ross Woolley, Robbie Purvis, Jennifer Dobson, Ewan Johnston (captain), Rosie Hood (captain), Katelyn Stewart, Sally Wood. Rachael McQueen was unable to accept her place in the team due to a prior commitment.
