Club Championships 2007The 2007 Warrender Club Championships concluded yesterday after four days of high octane action spread over the past two weeks. The meet is unique among swimming competitions in that it affords young development swimmers who have just finished swimming lessons to warm-up alongside, and compete in the same events as established senior international swimmers such as Commonwealth Games swimmer Fiona Booth and Great Britain representative Lewis Smith. It is also much bigger than most other club's internal events with this year seeing over 215 swimmers taking part, some swimming all the events on the FINA programme from stroke 50's to the 1500 freestyle.
The Championship calculates overall winners for each stroke category across eight different age groups using FINA points tables. Grand champions are then declared from each age group based on their combined points score from all categories and then presented with their trophies at the Annual Awards Night in December.
