Relay Bronze for Warrender Girls on Day 3 of British ChampionshipsDay 3 of the British Championships in Manchester saw Warrender collect its first medal of the meet when picking up the bronze in the women's 4 x 100 medley relay. The successful quartet of Rosie Hood (back 1:08.15), Katelyn Stewart (breast 1:15.65), Fiona Booth (fly 1:02.98), and Helen McRoberts (free 1:00.35) came home in 4:27.13 after battling throughout with Ealing and University of Bath.
Rosie Hood made it a double success with a great individual result in the women's 200 backstroke junior final. Pacing the race perfectly by making her way through the field as the race progressed, Rosie touched home in first place in a time of 2:21.86, just half a second shy of her lifetime best.
A late withdrawal from the men's 100 backstroke final allowed Billy Purnell a place in the race where a time of 58.68 placed him 7th. In the men's 200 IM semi-final, Lewis Smith knocked out another 2:05 swim as he comfortably qualified for tomorrow's final in 5th place.
Further good swims followed in the afternoon heats session. Fiona Booth put in solid performances in both the women's 100 butterfly (1:03.15) and 50 breaststroke (33.29) to easily qualify for the semi-finals, whilst Lewis Smith did likewise in the men's 200 butterfly, as did Kyle Goodfellow in the men's 200 breaststroke (2:21.76). Andrew Haslett and Ewan Johnston were also in good form as they qualified for junior finals in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.19) and 200 butterfly (2:08.09) respectively.
