Second Gold Just Out of Reach for Benson
22 Aug 2011

Craig Benson has claimed a silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke at the FINA World Junior Championships in Peru. Held in Lima over 6 days, it is the 3rd time the Championships have taken place, and the Warrender Performance Squad swimmer has enjoyed a very succesful meet.

After winning gold on day two of the meet, finished equal 2nd in the 50m Breaststroke on the final day of the Championships, in a new personal best and 17 year old British Age Group Record time of 28.44. It was a very close final, with the top six seperated by a very small margin.

Benson will return to Edinburgh on the 23rd August, where he has a couple of weeks to recuperate before finishing off his international season when he represents Scotland at the Commonwealth Youth Games, held in the Isle of Man.
