Warrender Eleven Ready for British Championships

Eleven Warrender swimmers have been finalising their preparations for the British National Championships which get underway in Manchester tomorrow.  The week long competition will be without the World Championship squad who are concurrently on duty in Melbourne, Australia but will feature the best of the rest that Britain has to offer, along with a tough looking 40 strong French team.

The meet doubles up as the selection trials for the European Junior Championships in July and Rosie Hood, Katelyn Stewart, Helen McRoberts, Ewan Johnston and Andrew Haslett will all by looking to achieve the qualification standards for the Warrender team.  Places on the British team for the World University Games in August are also at stake and both Billy Purnell and Fiona Booth will be aiming to impress the selectors for this event.

Lewis Smith will look to improve his standing in the British and World rankings over a range of events, while Kyle Goodfellow will be a strong contender in the 200m breaststroke on Wednesday.  Junior National squad swimmer Fiona Gibson will gain invaluable experience as she takes her place on the blocks for the 50m freestyle on Friday in what will be her first ever exposure to swimming at British National level.  In the meantime however, distance specialist Marnie Stewart will get the meet underway for Warrender on Monday as she tackles the challenging 5km swim.
