National Debut for Junior National BoysFour boys from Warrender's Junior National Squad have made their debut swimming at National level in Britain this week.
Daniel McGregor took part in the 14 year old 1500m Freestyle on Friday at the British Gas ASA National Age Group Championships, held in Sheffield. McGregor got off to a great start, setting an 800m personal best time (9:05.75) on the way to a final time of 17:16.58, just one second outside his lifetime best. This was good enough for him to finish in 14th place, a great result in his first outing.
Today, McGrgeor was joined by his team mates Iain Rose, Alistair Crichton and Murray Blair to contest the Boys 11-14 years 4x200 Freestyle relay. McGregor led the way with a strong lead of leg of 2:06.18, with Crichton taking over to post a 2:12.69. Rose, who will swim the 14 years 100 Breaststroke tomorrow went in third and finished with a time of 2:18.40 to hand over to Blair, who brought the team home in 22nd place with a split time of 2:13.01.
All four boys have made siginificant improvements throughout the season in order to get to this level, and the experience will stand them in good stead for future years competing at British level.
