Two Medals for WBC on Final Day in Belgrade
10 Jul 2011

Dan Wallace and Craig Benson finished their 2011 European Junior Championship campaign the same way they started it - by swimming fast! It was a superb end to a very succesful five days of competition for the boys as they both finished on the podium in their respective finals, once again setting lifetime bests!

18 year old Dan Wallace took bronze in the 400 Individual Medley, dropping nearly 7 seconds off his best time coming in to this competition. The race was closely contested with Dan racing hard to stay in the medals on the freestyle leg, finishing with a fantastic time of 4:20.60.

Team mate Craig Benson, only 17 years old and the youngest swimmer in the 100 Breaststroke final, bettered his semi final time by .01 to finish in second place with a time of 1:02.17 - a new British Age Group Record. Craig was back in the pool at the end of session, swimming the breaststroke leg in the 4x100 Medley Relay. Craig put down a blistering leg of 1:01.69 to help the team move from 7th place after the heats to 4th place in the finals.

Both boys will be back in the pool on Tuesday preparing for the ASA Youth Championships which commence in Sheffield on the 27th July.
