Boys show show early form in BelgradeDan Wallace and Craig Benson look to be in good form as the European Junior Championships got underway yesterday. The Championships are taking place in Belgrade, Serbia, and host the best Junior swimmers from all around Europe.
Both members of the Warrender Performance Squad contested the 200m Breaststroke on Day 1, both coming away with new lifetime best times! Wallace (2:18.37) finished the heats in 11th place and went on to finish 14th (2:19.59) in the semi finals last night. Benson was unlucky not to get a second swim, finishing the heats in 14th place (2:19.03), but being locked out of the semi finals by the rule which only allows two swimmers per nation to proceed past the heats.
On Day 2, contesting his favoured event the 200m Individual Medley, Wallace has cruised through the heats to qualify for tonight's semi finals in 2nd place behind British team mate Ieuan Lloyd. Wallace's time of 2:03.48 is his second fastest time to date and he will look to improve on this in the semi final's.
Benson is back in the pool tomorrow, swimming the 50m Breaststroke.
