DAY 2 - British Gas National Championships 6 Mar 2011
Day 2 of the British Gas National Championships saw the Warrender boys continue where they left off on Day 1, with more excellent swims.
Craig McNally swam the heats of the Men's 100m Backstroke, where he set a solid time of 57.16 to qualify in 7th place for the semi final later in the day. Back in the pool this evening, McNally dropped his time considerably to record his second best time ever (56.41) to improve his position to 5th place place going in to tomorrow night's final. This will be the first Senior final for McNally at the British Championships.
S8 Sean Fraser contested the final of the 100m Backstroke this evening, finishing in 5th place in a time of 1:09.22. S14 Scott Quin also raced the 100m Backstroke, finishing in 22nd place in a time of 1:23.59.
Craig Benson was officially selected for the British Gas European Junior Championships Team and the British Gas World Youth Championships Team today, following his excellent swim in the semi final of the Men's 100m Breaststroke last night. The European Junior Championship's will take place in Belgrade, Serbia from the 6-10th July 2011, whilst the World Youth Championships take place in Lima, Peru from 16-21st August 2011.
Back in action tomorrow, Benson will contest the Men's 50m Breaststroke whilst Lewis Smith will be back in the pool swimming the Men's 200m Butterfly.
