Wallace finals twice in HelsinkiWarrender Peformance Squad swimmer Dan Wallace, today returns to training after a very successful swimming campaign at the European Junior Championships in Helsinki. Taking place from the 14-18 July, the meet hosts the very best talent in Junior swimming from across Europe. Representing Great Britain for the first time, 17 year old Wallace performed exceptionally well to make it through to the finals in both the 200 and 400 Individual Medley events.
In the 200 Individual Medley heats and semi finals, Wallace swam fantastice new liftetime bests of 2:04.40 and 2:04.36 respectively. Both these times were inside the previous 17 year old Scottish Age Group Record. In the final, Wallace finished in 8th position, unable to improve on his heat time.
He went one better in the 400 Individual Medley though, finishing in 7th place amongst a very strong field of 17 and 18 year old's from across Europe, again in a new 17 year old Scottish Age Group Record time of 4:26.83. This was slightly faster than his heat time of 4:26.93.
Overall, it was an excellent performance from Wallace, who is still young enough to contest the European Junior Championships again next year, where he will look forward to building on his results from 2010. For now though, the talented swimmer is back in the pool putting the finishing touches on his preparations for the ASA Youth Championships which take place in Sheffield from the 3-7th August 2010.
