Purnell Earns GB Call-upWarrender swimmer Billy Purnell has been handed his first GB Senior Cap after a surprise late call-up to the team for the Tri-Nations competition in London on 1-2 August 2009.
The Stirling based athlete has been selected for the 200 backstroke, one of his premier events. He joins 40 other British swimmers for the prestigious event where GB will take on quality teams from Canada and Russia. The event first took place last year in Quebec, Canada when Britain faced off against the hosts and France.
This years event takes place in the newly renovated Crystal Palace pool in South London. Billy will travel to London direct from the ASA Championships taking place in Sheffield where he will contest the 100 backstroke and 200 IM.
