Warrender Swimming Club’s newly appointed Head Coach Laurel Bailey has been presented with a top honour during an awards dinner that took place after the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association’s Annual General Meeting in Carnoustie on Saturday 28th February.
The award “BSCTA Scotland, Development Coach of the Year” was presented to Laurel for her work as Assistant Coach of Warrender Baths Club and for helping to develop the Club’s younger swimmers, in particular for coaching Craig Benson (14) who won double gold at the ASA Age Group Championships last July as well as breaking numerous British Records for breaststroke throughout the year 2008. In addition, Laurel had a key role in the coaching of Sean Fraser who won a bronze medal at the Beijing Paralympics.
Laurel was appointed Head Coach of Warrender in January following the departure of Ian Wright to a Scottish Swimming post in Stirling. This award is recognition of Laurel’s coaching expertise and dedication both to Warrender Baths Club and to swimming in Scotland.
